Assisting Communities 

North Ottawa DunesThe Land Conservancy of West Michigan (LCWM) works with local governments to help identify important natural areas, preserve open space and create community parks. LCWM often acts as a negotiator to help structure transactions and assists with grant writing to secure project funding.

 
Success Stories

    • Meinert County Park Expansion: Muskegon County and the Land Conservancy protected natural area adjacent to Meinert Park, expanding the park to 183 acres.

    • Lost Lake: With help from the Land Conservancy, 68 acres of forest, wetlands and lake frontage were forever protected and added to Muskegon State Park.

    • North Ottawa Dunes: The Land Conservancy helped Ottawa County Parks protect 500 acres in Spring Lake Township as a county park.

Current Projects

    • Saugatuck Harbor Natural Area: With the help of several partners, including the City of Saugatuck, the Land Conservancy is currently working to protect 171-acres adjacent to the City of Saugatuck's Oval Beach.
